I'm basically completely new to MAC pigments and I really want to try them out. Could you ladies suggest the best colors, favorite colors or color combinations? I know that I definitely want melon and vanilla, those seem to be the most must have colors. I have blues eyes, blonde hair, and I'm quite fair, just for reference.

It is no secret that I love pigments, you get sooooo much for your money's worth. I defy you to use up an entire jar in under 2.5 years! I love both colors you have chosen, I use my vanilla the most, it is one of the most versatile products I have. I use it as shadow, as a highlighter, on cheekbones, decollete, mixing in with body lotion for a nice shimmery cream, in with lipstick or lipgloss for a frosty look ... it's a great investment!

I think Old Gold would be beautiful on you too, golds continue to be huge this fall. I think the next collection, or maybe the one after that, I can't keep track (!) has more pigments coming. I really, really like Tea Time, from Colour Forms, it is the perfect brown on me and I am pale with blue eyes too. But that's from Nordies ... so it may not help you out much. Anyone else have any recs?

I definetly recommend Vanilla. And Violet too, its such a pretty purple. You can buy samples online, most are about 1/2 tsp for about 4.00, and thats a pretty large amount too. I basically use mine for eyeshadows though. Most websites have old limeted editions or discontinued colors, so if you are looking for those I suggest checking them out. I had ordered some samples, but I don't think I am a pigment girl. I have them, but I rarely ever reach for them. But thats just me. If you want to know where I ordered my samples from, just let me know!

Thanks Critty and Jackie! I actually found a bunch of sites that give away samples, so I'm going to start with that and if I really like them I'll buy the full size. Thanks though!

I watched Enkore's video about pressing pigments so I really want to try that. I need to buy a palette though, and I'm not exactly sure where I can find one. I want the mac pro, but I don't live any where near a mac and I can't get it online. I might try ebay.

You can get the empty pans through starsmakeuphaven.com http://starauctions.ecrater.com/product.php?pid... and the palettes through MAC Pro http://www.macpro.com/templates/products/sp.tmp... you just have to call them to place the order, you don't have to be a Pro member. I think the empty palette is around $10 or $12. We wanna see your swatches when you get them!!

Ooooh, that makes me happy. They're palettes are pretty cheap! Another question...do you have any suggestions for eyeshadows? I know that I really want Amber Lights and Shroom.

Two great choices! If you are getting a palette, get your shadows as refill pans only (without the plastic part) so you can pop them into your palette, plus they are cheaper that way. Amber Lights is my go-to color when I want to make my eyes pop and leave the house fast. I also love to mix Amber Lights with Swimming (midtone green) or humid, dark golden green. Other faves are Gorgeous Gold, Patina, Warming Trend, Paradisco, Expensive Pink, Da Bling, Aquadisiac, Sketch, Haux and Sushi Flower. For highlights (other than vanilla pigment) I like White Frost, Solar White, Nylon and Dazzlelight. Oh and I really like Ricepaper. OK, I will stop, trying not to overwhelm you! :)

i have only two jars of pigments from MAC, but my absolute favourite is definitely Teal! it's not the colour i use most often... If i think about it, i've only used it a couple of times, but.. i have not seen a better colour than this one. So somptuous, intense, it's even intense when you only apply a wash of colour! Feels like it's.. alive. :) and i love its finish, how flattering turned out to be on different complexions.. it's really my favourite colour, i wish i could wear it more often!

I have smoke signal too.. and it's good, i like it, but.. kind of plain. nothing surprsing to it..

I just recently bought Teal and love it too! It makes a wicked smoky eye, but it is not for people wanting light shimmery colors - it is a Go Big or Go Home color :) I feel the same way about Pink Pearl!

hehehehe, I totally agree.. Teal isn't for the faint-hearted! I want to try vanilla so much.. and kitschmas.. goood, first time someone goes to a country with mac stores, I'll send my loooooooong wishlist :)

btw, speaking about eyeshadows.. my favourites are Kid, Brule, Brown Down and Satin Taupe.. i also have those from alexander mcqueen collection (Nile and Haunting), Soba, Espresso (these two as mono eyeshadows, not just a pan for the pallette), Sketch and Signed, Sealed.. which is really, really similar to the Smoke Signal pigment.

and I'm dying to try Ricepaper, honey lust, carbon, era, bronze and cork.. and amber lights.. and maybe wedge and soft brown too.. Lol!
