Hey everyone, I'm Jackiee. I live in Toronto, and I just started high school this year. Recently I've started wearing makeup, but the problem is, I don't know alot about it, such as the products, or how to apply them properly. I've been watching Critty's videos on YouTube, and they have helped me, but I'm just still unsure on some things.

I wear contact lenses ( hard lenses), and they hurt sometimes, once I appy eyeliner or mascara, and then I start to tear, and the makeup gets all smudged :(

So what can I do..? And also, is there some products that you can introduce me that isn't really expensive? Cause, I only get about $20 for allowance, so I don't want to be spending too much.

For the mascara, what are the differences between the all of the bristiles? I'm just confused, since I don't know makeup that well yet.

I have the combination of: (I'm asian btw x) dark brown eyes, medium skin tone, fair skin (neither oily or dry), and of course black hair.

Thank-you alot Critty or anyone else, it is greatly appreciated if you help me with my questions! Once again thankks!! (:

Hey Jackiee - Welcome! And yay for another Toronto girl!! I have never worn hard contacts, so maybe someone here will have some better advice ... but can you try applying your makeup before you put in your contacts? That may help with the tearing, but you will probably have to go really, really close to the mirror. A bunch of around here are big fans of waterproof eyeliner, no smudging and it lasts through tears. Some not so expensive but good brands are Sephora Flash Waterproof pencil ($10), Annabelle waterproof pencil (under $6 at Shoppers or Walmart) or L'Oreal HiP cream liners available at some Shoppers - you kinda have to search for them, but they are in a little pot and come with a tiny brush. There are so many mascaras out now! Big brushes can be messy for people with small lids, some Asian women have that issue and prefer a tiny wand to really get every lash coated with mascara. Not sure if that is your issue or not, totally depends on the eye. If you have straight lashes, you will probably want to curl them first, this opens up the eye - again, a universal truth, not just for Asian eyes. What sort of products are you looking for? Who else has good tips for Jackiee? :)

Current obsessions: Dior Shadows, Lancome Le Lipstique lip pencil in Sheer plum and still searching for the perfect mascara, back using LashBlast in blue.

Thanks so much Critty! (:
Hmmm.. I guess you can say, as long as they work well and are not expensive? Well to tell you the truth, I really want to try you know the Lancome products, or some other really good ones, but unfortunately, they're over my budget xD
But I will get them one day, when they CAN actually fit in my budget.

And btw is it necessary to use a eye lash clipper and then to use mascara? How much they usually cost? (my lashes, aren't really short, i don't know how much in length, but I guess you can say its kinda medium long?)

Any other tips or products you can think of that you can recommend to me? Thanks so much for your helpp!! (: (:

Hey Jackiee, I know it is hard when you are first starting out, and I love Lancome too! But did you know L'Oreal owns Lancome? They actually own a lot of other companies too including Maybelline, Vichy, Biotherm, La Roche Posay, etc, etc! So If you love Lancome, I bet you will really like L'Oreal, both are known for their mascaras, skin care etc. And I love the L'Oreal HiP liners, better than other $$$ ones! You do not NEED to use a lash curler, it just helps "open up" the eyes if you have straight lashes. Revlon makes a good one :) My tips for you are - make sure your foundation or concealer matches your skin perfectly (I like L'Oreal True Match for the different undertones) and have fun with it :) Are there any special looks you want to try? :)

Hey Critty, my lashes are like completely straight out. It's kinda hard to make them 'curl' and what are some ways to not making your lashes to not clump? Any solutions? Or am I just not using the proper way of applying mascara? Thanks (:
