So lately my skin has been absolutely awful. I went and got a facial a few weeks ago and the facialist told me that I should try using Benzoyl Peroxide. At first it was working wonderful at getting rid of my hard little bump, and luckily it's kept those away. But lately it's been doing nothing for my skin. I've also been worried that my mac studio fix powder foundation has been breaking me out, so I've been looking for a more gentle alternative. I dug out my everyday minerals samples that I had never used, and was so excited! My face loooked flawless and incredible! The next day is where it all went wrong...dun dun dun!
I woke up with a small cyst on my chin and five small zits on my forehead. Because I'm somewhat of an idiot, I though it was probably just that time of the month, I was wrong, but I kept using my everyday minerals. The next morning I had 3 cysts on my chin, and 5 red, angry zits on my forhead.
Tonight I masaged castor oil and jojoba oil into my skin for 5 minutes, then steamed it off. I toned and then put an aspirin mask on for 45 minutes. Then I used tea tree oil on my blemishes. I feel like after I did the aspirin masks the cysts didn't feels as big, so hopfully this really helped.
I'm also realizing how weird my skin is. During the winter I always thought that I had dry skin, then during the spring I thought for sure it was oily. Now, I'm thinking that it's dry but shiny. I don't know. It's so frustrating!
Any ideas would be awesome! Favaorite products?
I have heard Studio Fix (powder) can break people out, MAC's website says it is oil-free, but they don't list the other ingredients - boooo to that! A great powder foundation I love is Clinique Perfectly Real Compact - no cakiness! As for your skin, people usually react well to either benzoyl peroxide or salicylic acid ... if you are not getting what you want with BP, try sals acid, or it's other name BHA (beta hydroxy acid). If the aspirin mask works for you, salicyilc acid will work, because the asprin is a form of salicylic acid. There is a newish acne treatment from Neutrogena Rapid Clear - Acne Eliminating Spot Gel, my sister has been having good results with it on the zits that pop up. :)

As Critty said, I have been using the Rapid Clear Spot Gel - we have a love/hate relationship. I love that it stops the zit from growing into an angry red mountain. I hate how it never quite takes it away, always leaves a small mark there to be dealt with, painfully, in a facial. It is also very drying so use it sparingly and watch how your skin reacts. But it's the best I've come across so far. I've become a fan of the Paula's Choice line (do to scrounging around in Critty's products). they have a charcoal masque that is so far working quite well for me. I'm going through an oily patch, so I use it twice a week. My skin feels very happy after it - be warned it is a hideous black colour - I haven't gotten the courage to walk around the house with it yet ;)

Thanks both of you! I'll definitely look into the clinique powder foundation.
I actually got my Paula's order (I got like 5504308908093 samples from her) and I'm really liking it so far. I used the charcoal mask the other night, but I'm not sure if it really did anything. I'll get a full size to see the difference. I also got a few of the BHA products. At first it was clearing up my spots really well, but now it's going back to normal, but I think it's my skin purging. On the makeupalley reviews most people said they purged, but then their skin got really great. I think I need to just be patient :)
