Ahhh the joys of blotchy, red, uncomfortable skin. It certainly is not a blessing, but it doesn't have to be a ginormous curse either. There are ways to minimize the redness with makeup that will give your skin a nice glow.
When covering red, blotchy skin, you want to use warm colors with your makeup. Any cool colors will make the redness more noticeable, and we definitely don't want that. Neutrals are the best way to go ... they will give you a natural, pretty look that won't bring attention to your red areas.
You first need to cover redness or rosacea with concealer, foundation and powder, if you missed how to do that, check out How to Cover Redness and Rosacea. Once you have the redness somewhat contained , you can try this simple look I do or create something of your own.
Here's a look I often use, after applying concealer, foundation and powder:
Comb or fill in your brows with pencil, powder or gel. A well groomed brow will draw attention up, away from red, blotchy chins, cheeks or noses.
Using neutral eye colors, apply a color similar to your skin tone and apply it up to your brows. I use a bone color because I am pasty. Use what is good for your skin tone.
Apply a warm taupe color all over your lid to your crease. If you want, use a taupe with a slight shimmer if you like that look. Blend really well.
Apply a mid-toned warm brown along your lash line and then blend it up all over your lid. It should be a soft wash of color.
Apply the same mid-toned warm brown on your lower lash line with an angle brush.
Curl your lashed (if you do that) and add your mascara to open your eyes and make them dramatic.
Add a bronzer to the tops of your cheekbones. A bronzer will not add any redness or pink back into your skin. Choose a matte bronzer or one with minimal shimmer. Blend out the harsh line (always do this is you are applying bronzer or blush).
Add a neutral lipstick or gloss. I completely heart the L'Oreal Made for Me Naturals, they are designed by hair color. I love them all, because they have both warm and cool undertones so they look good on everyone.
Voila! Hopefully you know have a pretty, soft look that is minimizing your redness. Check out the video for all of the how tos and let us know in the comments what you do to minimize your redness in the comments below ...
