Summer weather is here to stay for a while, so you may be noticing super shiny skin.  This is the first installment in a series where we will tackle how to survive the summer weather without looking like a hot mess.

Today's topic is a really easy one to get - oil-absorbing powders.  I am not talking about regular powders that will cake up on you and leave you looking anything less than fresh.  These are special powders designed to absorb oil without caking up, you will get barely any coverage with them, they are all about absorbing the oil and stopping the shine.

Urban Decay's De-slick Mattifying Powder is made rice powder as an absorber and they promise the light lavendar shade will work on " every skin tone, from dark chocolate to palest porcelain".

The Balm's Sexy Mama contains Mica, silicia, corn and rice startch plus that fun retro cover!

Cover FX Matte FX comes in 3 shades, I have it in Light and it offers a bit of coverage.  Cornstarch and silica keep the oil at bay.  I keep this bad boy in my purse at all times!

MAC Blot Pressed or Loose powder come in a variety of shades and use mica and silica as their main absorbers.  it's nice to have the variety of shades as well as the choice in formulation.

Sorry, I couldn't find any drugstore options, most of them contain talc, which is going to cake up on you.  So if you are super oily, you are going to have to splurge ... or use oil-absorbing sheets which is tomorrow's topic.

Exciting news - i am off to pick up little Miss Daisy at the vet and to find out what is wrong with her.  We have really missed her insane self around here, there was no one to protect us from shadows or reflections - the horror!!  Robbie does not like being the only dog and he is quite depressed.

Do you use any of these powders?  Are they helping you stay shine-free this summer?
